Let us invite you most cordially to the 21st International Chess and Games Festival CZECH OPEN 2010, which will take place 15th July 1st August 2010 in Pardubice (the Czech Republic). Within the frame of the festival there will be more than 100 tournaments in chess and other games, i.a. European Youth Chess Teams Championship and European Amateurs Championship in Chess. 24th Pula Open Chess Tournament
19-26th June at the hotel Histria in Pula, Croatia
The 24th Pula Open chess tournament is taking place on 19-26th June at the hotel Histria, under management of the Croatian Chess Federation and local Chess Club Pula. The competition will be held over nine rounds of Swiss system and with time control of 90 min + 30 sec increment.
The 28th edition of the international chess tournament Andorra Chess Open will take plce July 17-25, 2010, at the Sant Gothard Hotel in Erts (La Massana).
Andorra Chess Open is valid for GM/IM norms and features a prize fund of 10 000 eur.
The time control is 40 moves in 90 minutes and 30 minutes to finish with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the first move. Games start 15:30h daily, except the first and second round at 16:00h and the last round that will be from 09:30h. The organization will accept a limit of 180 inscriptions. There are still places open, you can sign up at the official website.
July 3-9th, Arvier (Aosta Valley)

The 4th International Chess Open Avenida de Canarias will take place 18th to 25th of July, 2010 in Vecindario, Santa Lucia, Gran Canaria. A total of 30 titled players have signed up, led by the Spanish young talent GM Ivan Salgado Lopez. There is strong international participation with players like GM Bojan Kurajica, GM Reynaldo Vera Gonzalez-Quevedo, and GM Dragan Barlov, as well as some of the top world female players - IM Tania Sachdev, WGM Anna Rudolf, and WGM Sabrina Vega Gutierrez.
The tournament is a 9 rounds Swiss event with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game and 30 seconds increment per move.

Heini Olsen Memorial and Klaksvik Open 2010

Faroe Islands will host a 7th category GM tournament on 20-26th July, in Klaksvk, the second largest town of the Islands. The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Heini Olsen.
Players: GM Gawain Jones (ENG 2557), GM Henrik Danielsen (ISL 2514), IM Tapani Sammalvuo (FIN 2481), GM Miroslaw Grabarczyk (POL 2456), IM Helgi Dam Ziska (FAI 2426), IM Silas Lund (DEN 2408), FM Robert Lagerman (ISL 2282), FM Carl Eli Nolsoe Samuelsen (FAI 2278), Olaf Berg (FAI 2265) and Rogvi Egilstoft Nielsen (FAI 2062).
In addition, Klaksvik Open 2010 will take place on the same dates. Currently top seeded is IM Simon Bekker-Jensen of Denmark, other titled players are CM Andrej Vospernik and WFM Fiona Steil-Antoni.
Negroponte Open 2010
9th to 17th August, at Chalkis, Greece, 25.000 EUR prize fund
The Chess Academy Chalkis Palamedes Evia is organising the 1st international chess tournament Negroponte 2010, which will be held from 9th to 17th August, 2010, at the beautiful city of Chalkis, Greece.
The tournament will be Open, 9 rounds Swiss with total prize fund of 25.000 EUR. The first prize is 3.500 EUR, and there will be special awards for women, juniors, rating performance, etc.
Among the 207 participants from 32 countries there is an impressive number of 35 Grandmasters. Top seeded is Russian Denis Khismatullin, followed by his compatriot Igor Kurnosov and Indian challengers Ganguly Surya Shekhar and Sandipan Chanda (full list bellow). It is great to see GM Suat Atalik (2607) back in tournament action after he recently returned from a two-year hiatus.
Chessdom, Capital Chess Center – Sofia, and the Chess Academy of Thessaloniki proudly announce the First International Open Chess Tournament Bansko Grand Chess Open 2010.
The tournament will be held in the city of Bansko, Bulgaria from the 12th until the 19th of December 2010, with open participation and nine (9) rounds Swiss system. It will feature two sections - open and junior - with a total prize fund of over 15 000 EUR. There are special rating prizes for the winners of U2400, U2200, U2000, and U1800.
The Bansko Grand Chess 2010 is open for everyone and is valid for FIDE norms. The Junior U14 section is application for the European Youth Grand Prix and the eight winners of the subsections receive a laptop computer.
17th International Chess Festival M.Chigorin Memorial
St. Petersburg, Russia, October 26 - November 05, 2010
The festival is held in Moskva hotel (2 Al. Nevsky square) and consists of two tournaments.
A. Rapid chess tournament, October 26-27, starts at 17:00
Time control 15 minutes per game + 5 seconds increment for each move, 9 round Swiss. Entry fee: 1000 roubles (for juniors under 16, seniors and women - 800 roubles). Registrations are accepted on October 26, 9:30 - 16:45. The prizes are paid out in Russian roubles (official rate on August 17 is 1 euro = 39.11 roubles).
The traditional chess festival Moscow Open will be held from January 28th to February 7th, 2011, in the usual playing venue at the Russian State Social University (RSCU), 4 Pik street (metro Botanical Garden).

Dear European Chess Federation,
As you already know, the French Chess Federation (FFE) will organize next European Chess Championships. This prestigious tournament will take place in Aix-les-Bains, from 2011, March 21st - April 3rd.

The 4th International Open Stadium Casablanca is set to take place from 23rd to 31st December in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. 116 players are signed up to now, among them are ten Grandmasters. Top prize is 2000 EUR. Winners of the previous tournaments are GMs Azer Mirzoev and Edouard Romain, and IM Cristhian Cruz.

The 3rd Chennai International Open Chess Tournament will take place from 17th to 26th January 2011 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Multipurpose indoor stadium, in Chennai, India. The tournament is organised by Sports Promotion Foundation, Under the guidance of Tamilnadu State Chess Association and All India Chess Federation.
ST. CROIX - The USVI Chess Federation will also host the USVI National Open Scholastic Chess Tournament on Feb. 19 and 20 at Manor School. All USVI students under the age of 18 are welcome to participate.

The MP Reykjavk Open 2011 (Updated)
9th to 16th March in the City Hall in downtown Reykjavk, Iceland
The MP Reykjavk Open will be held from March 9 to March 16, 2011 in the City Hall in downtown Reykjavk. The 2011 edition is expected to field one of the strongest and largest group of chess players in years. Nearly thirty GMs have so far registered, including some of the world’s highest ranked players, the youngest GM in the world, some of the strongest women and legends of the game.
The highest ranked player is Evgenij Miroshnichenko (2670) of Ukraine, followed by Luke McShane (2664), Ivan Sokolov (2657), one of last year’s winners who also regularly features in international chess tournaments in Iceland, and German GM Jan Gustafsson (2652).
From Scandinavia, we have Magnus Carlsen’s contemporary, Jon Ludvig Hammer (2647) and Denmark’s Sune Berg Hansen (2603). Moreover, all active Icelandic GMs will take part, including Hannes Hlfar Stefnsson (2580), who has been among the winners in the last three tournaments, Hinn Steingrmsson (2554), one of the 2009 winners, Henrik Danielsen (2519) and rstur rhallsson (2387).

The 29th Andorra Chess Open is scheduled to take place from 16th to 24th July at the Hotel Sant Gothard, Ctra. d'Arinsal s/n. Erts (La Massana). The tournament is organized by Federaci d'Escacs Valls d'Andorra. The Andorra Chess Open is valid for the VIII Circuit Catal d'Oberts Internacionals.
The competition will be a nine round Swiss. Games are starting from 15:30h daily, except the first and second rounds at 16:00h and the last round that will be from 09:30h. The time control is 40 moves in 90 minutes and 30 minutes to finish with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the first move.

The 19th Cup of the Town of Klatovy is scheduled to take place from 2nd to 10th July at the The Culture House Klatovy, Domazlicka 676. Two tournaments, Open A for players rated over 1850 and Open B for players U2000, will be played over nine rounds of Swiss system.
Situated near the south-west Czech-German border, the prominent West Bohemian town of Klatovy, known as the Gate to the Sumava Mountains, is a major administrative centre of the surrounding region.
The town, which today has more than 23 thousand inhabitants, is dominated by the famous Black Tower, built between 1547-57, and the twin white towers of the Jesuit church completed in 1679. The town of Klatovy was founded around the year 1260 by King Premysl Otakar II near an old market village.
